5 Days Kenya Safari (Big 5, Wildebeest Migration & Flamingos) Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Transfer to Masai Mara National Reserve.
After breakfast, you’ll meet your safari guide, who will pick you up from your hotel or airport in Nairobi. He will brief you about the 5 days Kenya safari and then start your road trip to Masai Mara through the Eastern Great Rift Valley escarpment. You will enjoy breath-taking views of the valley from its viewing point, then continue to Narok Town for lunch before reaching Masai Mara.
You will check in at your lodge upon arrival and then proceed for an evening game drive to spot a dazzling array of wildlife in the reserve, such as the big 5 animals, great sightings of the big cats, and plains game, including wildebeest and gazelles.
The ride takes about 6hrs.

Day 2: All Day Masai Mara Reserve.
After a quick breakfast, you will pack your lunch and embark on a full-day game drive in the Mara plains in search of its popular residents: the lions, cheetahs, leopards, hyenas, monstrous crocodiles, zebras, wildebeests, giraffes, hippos, antelopes, and other gazelles.
A picnic lunch will be organized under a croton tree shade overlooking the vast landscape of the reserve. You have the opportunity to go as far as the edges of the Mara River to catch up with the great migration – the epic annual trek of 1.5 million wildebeest from the Serengeti to the Masai Mara region during the months from July to October.
During this time of year, the savannah is awash with wildebeest, zebras, and other herbivores. At the same time, it’s known for the dramatic Mara and Talek River crossings. Wildlife viewing is excellent since there’s less vegetation. You will enjoy remarkable wildlife drama as predators such as lions, cheetahs, leoprds and hyenas chase down their prey in a race for life.
Although you can visit Masai Mara throughout the year for excellent wildlife viewing, many travelers plan their trip around the wildebeest migration.
Optional: You can embark on an evening Maasai cultural experience for $20. You will visit one of the villages to learn about their way of life and interact with the locals. A balloon safari can be organized after your early morning game drive for $380.
Day 3: Transfer to Lake Nakuru National Park.
Lake Nakuru National Park is home to a variety of wildlife, including the famous white and black rhinos. Over 400 species of birds including thousands of flamingos visit the lake, making it a popular paradise for bird watchers. Animals to be sighted in Lake Nakuru include the Rothschild’s giraffes, black and white rhinos, waterbucks, reedbucks, lions, buffaloes, leopards, baboons, and several other species of plains game.
After an early morning breakfast, you may choose to visit a Masai village for a cultural experience and then transfer to Lake Nakuru National Park on a scenic drive. You will marvel at the stunning savannah plains, dotted with acacia trees and grazing wildlife, rolling hills, shimmering lakes, and lush greenery as you drive through.
On arrival, immediately check in at your reserved lodge and enjoy a sumptuous lunch. Embark on an afternoon game drive to see a variety of resident game including the abundance of flamingos. After your activities, return to the lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 4: Transfer to Lake Naivasha.
Lake Naivasha is a freshwater lake on the Great Rift Valley floor. It consists the Crescent Island which is home to a variety of wildlife such as buffalo, zebra, eland, hartebeest, Thomson’s gazelle, baboons, klipspringer, waterbuck, impala, and Chanler’s Mountain reedbuck and over 100 bird species.
Wake up for an early morning game drive and then return to the lodge for a late breakfast and then transfer to Lake Naivasha on a scenic drive as you observe wildlife. You will drive through the vast savanna plains, rolling hills, settlements, with occasional wildlife sightings.
Upon arrival at the park, you will check in at your lodge, enjoy lunch and embark on an early afternoon boat ride around Lake Naivasha till sunset. You will cross over to Crescent Island to view abundant wildlife and bird species, or opt to walk through the gorges and pass by the hot springs. After enjoying your activities, return to the lodge for dinner and a great night.

Day 5: Back to Nairobi.
Wake up for an early morning game drive and then return to the lodge for a late breakfast. Upon arrival at Nairobi, you will be dropped off at your hotel or airport for your departure flight.
